What is a DAPsc?
In practical terms, a DAPsc is typically an assistance arm mounted to the floor or a workbench, designed to support the weight of a tool, a part, or a section of the body. Its purpose is to reduce physical strain on the worker and, in some cases, assist their movements to improve task performance.
What is it used for?
Unlike exoskeletons, which are personal devices used for dynamic or mobile tasks, DAPscs are generally shared workstation equipment designed for fixed, ergonomically constrained workstations.
Due to their specific design, DAPscs are particularly well suited to work environments involving repetitive or long-duration tasks. For example, they are commonly used in industry (assembly, welding, sanding stations, etc.), healthcare (work under laminar flow hoods, instrument cleaning, etc.), and office environments (upper-limb support for computer-based work).
